What an incredible experience!

I recently attended the 3rd annual Cabin Series Workshop and my, oh, my what a wonderful class. Up to 8 hours of classroom instruction with 3 of the best photographers in Michigan's Upper Peninsula (Love+Litchens, Sabrina Leigh Studios and Riutta Images).

To say I was blown away is a total understatement.

I started the day with a cup of caramel iced coffee from Steep+Brew Houghton and drove my way through the fog and wind to the shores of Big Traverse Bay-east of Lake Linden.

The wind was simply insane, and you should have seen the waves. The crashing of the waves against the great sandy beach was soothing and set the tone for a cozy day of learning the ins and outs of photography and running a business.

I squealed with delight when I got my welcome invites in the mail. I have been dreaming of attending this workshop ever since it first began. Yes, I have to pinch myself. Dreams do come true.

The crashing of the waves and the sand under my feet. It showcased the wildness and rage and beauty of the UP all at once.

After lunch, we went from the in-house classroom instruction and grabbed our cameras. Justin and Nadia, our couple models, arrived and the fun and magic began. Here is a sampler of a few of my favorites from their portion of the class:

After them, we photographed a family that came as our family models. The children were so cute, playing on the beach with their families, living life to the fullest:

I truly cannot wait to see what the future holds. It has been my dream to network with some of the other local photography stars and it blew me away by how welcoming they are to people in the photography community. It truly warms my heart and encourages me to strive to the "community over competition" motto I wish to cling to.
